Marriage Settlement
This visa will ensure that if you are the Non-European spouse of a UK Resident or British Citizen, you can settle in the UK as husband and wife. The visa will be granted for 2 years, after which you can apply for residency.
Advice
Always
- Make sure that you have all the relevant documents ready by the Sponsor; Marriage Certificate, 6 months’ Salary Slips, Tax Returns, National Insurance Contributions Letter, Tenancy Agreement or Mortgage Statement, Council Tax Payment Records, Last 6 months’ Bank Statements, photo-graphs of the Wedding, Evidence of Communication (Telephone bills), full copy of passport certified by solicitors;
- Send original documents to the applicant wife or husband;
Dont
- Assume that the visa will be granted on the day - the British Embassy may want to have some document verified in the UK;
- Apply for this visa as a visitor to the UK. It will be refused;
- Suffer in vain if you have entered the UK on a marriage visa and are a victim of domestic violence YOU MUST GET HELP - contact the Citizen Advice Bureau or the POLICE.
